About Tinley Park

Settlement of the area began in the 1820s, and by the 1840s a significant German-American population had established the community, naming it "Bremen." The rapid expansion of railroads in the late 19th century transformed the town, and it was renamed Tinley Park in honor of railroad agent Samuel Tinley Sr. The village formally incorporated on June 27, 1892.
