About Oswego

Oswego was settled in 1833 by William Smith Wilson, his wife Rebecca, and Daniel Pearce, and briefly served as the Kendall County seat from 1845 until 1864, when the seat moved to the more centrally located Yorkville. The extension of the Fox River branch of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad through the village in 1870 gave Oswego a second economic boost after losing the county seat.

Growth accelerated dramatically starting in the 1990s as Naperville and Aurora's homebuilding boom advanced west along the Route 34 corridor.
